Lawrence Golan, Music Director of the Symphony Orchestra & Opera Theatre at Lamont, is the new Music Director of the Denver Philharmonic Orchestra is offering Lamont School of Music alumni discounted tickets to the 2013-2014 Season!

The Denver Philharmonic is this region’s premiere community orchestra.  Now in its 66th Season, the Denver Philharmonic is a largely volunteer orchestra distinguished by excellent musicianship, affordable ticket prices, a friendly and approachable atmosphere, and exciting, innovative programming.  Besides playing in the orchestra, our musicians are lawyers, accountants, teachers, and many other professions.  In addition, our musicians are your neighbors — and come from Denver, Boulder, Fort Collins, and many places in between.  We take pride in being a local orchestra with local talent that has a passion for performing quality music.

This season the Denver Philharmonic will present 6 concerts under the theme “New Beginnings”. Our season opener is October 4 and features Brubeck’s concerto for bass trombone with jazzy influences. I’ve attached an electronic brochure that will walk you through our very exciting season, our soloists, and will give you a flavor of what we are about, and information about our extremely talented soloists – including the Lamont’s own Linda Wang, who will perform Chen and He’s The Butterfly Lovers Violin Concerto on February 14, 2014.

Lamont Alumni can receive 50 percent off of tickets by entering the promotional code LAMdpo on the ticketing page of the website: www.denverphilharmonic.org. Purchasers must use the “1 adult” ticket category to obtain the discount. A drop-down menu will allow you to purchase as many tickets as you would like.

Chancellor’s First Year Dinners

Dear Alumni,

As you may know, every autumn Chancellor Robert Coombe invites the first year students to one of a series of dinners, held to welcome them to the University and introduce them to its colorful history and traditions. We would love to personally invite each of you to join us at one of these dinners as we welcome this year’s first year students to the DU family!

It is our tradition to invite a special group of DU alumni to attend a dinner to greet our students, share stories and help them understand what it means to be a Pioneer. The dinners are held from 6 to 8:30 p.m. in the Ritchie Center’s Gottesfeld Room. This year, due to the large number of incoming students, there will be 21 separate events. We hope to have 10 alumni represent the DU community each evening.

If you are interested in attending, please contact the Office of Alumni Relations at 303-871-2701 or alumni@du.edu. This is a wonderful opportunity for alumni to attend one of the University’s hallmark events and for DU’s past students to connect with DU’s future alumni.
